They examined creativity levels of people while they walked versus while they sat. A person's creative output increased by an average of 60 percent when walking.Steve Jobs, the late co-founder of Apple, was known for his walking meetings. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has also been seen holding meetings on foot. And perhaps you’ve paced back and forth on occasion to drum up ideas.Creative thinking improves while a person is walking and shortly thereafter, according to a study co-authored by <a data-mce-href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4LSwZ05laQ" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4LSwZ05laQ">Marily Oppezzo</a>, a Stanford doctoral graduate in educational psychology, and Daniel Schwartz, a professor at Stanford Graduate School of Education.The study found that walking indoors or outdoors similarly boosted creative inspiration. The act of walking itself, and not the environment, was the main factor. Across the board, creativity levels were consistently and significantly higher for those walking compared to those sitting.“Many people anecdotally claim they do their best thinking when walking. We finally may be taking a step, or two, toward discovering why,” Oppezzo and Schwartz wrote in the study published this week in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory and Cognition.I think this is a good reason (or excuse) to book your walking tour. This is the true definition of combining creativity (that can lead into business) with pleasure.

When the English came to take care of their wine, one (or all) of them mispronounced the name of the city by adding an 'O' creating the anglicism 'Oporto'. Try to say "Porto" to sound real Portuguese. 2. Is Porto nicer than Lisbon?Porto, in my view, is a more hospitable city that is easier to comprehend and appreciate in a short time than Lisbon. Moreover, despite its increased popularity, it has not been negatively impacted as much by Portugal's post-pandemic tourism boom as Lisbon has. But you know, maybe I'm being a little "bias" because I was born here (wink-wink). Most of the people that I know they start in Lisbon and they end in Porto. And, oh yes, I hope you're in good shape, because both cities are hilly. 3. What are the best months to visit Porto?From January to December because I (we) want you to be here!&nbsp; But seriously, Porto is becoming very trendy/touristy and, because of that, if you want to avoid the crowds, I would suggest visiting Porto during April-June or November-January. The winters can be rainy and the temperatures in the summer can sometimes reach the 30-35º Celsius. 4. Do I need to speak Portuguese to visit Porto? Is English spoken in Porto?No, I'm the only exception in the whole city. Just kidding, the Portuguese people (especially the younger generations) speak a very decent English and will be happy to talk to you. But we won't mind if you speak (at least try) some key words like "obrigado", "por favor", "bom dia", "até logo". Just please don't say "gracias" here, this isn't Spain. 5. Where is the Douro Valley located?The Douro Valley is one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world, and it's only an hour and a half away from Porto. Visiting Porto gives you the opportunity to explore the Douro Valley - a lot of visitors do that. Upon request, I can suggest some travel companies that offer a full day tour in the Douro vineyards.

Make restaurant reservations&nbsp;</h2>Porto has some excellent dining rooms, including over a dozen places

Don’t drive in the center of Porto</h2>Porto’s narrow, one-way streets, heavy traffic and challenging 
parking situation can be quite nerve-wracking even for local drivers. 
Add in hills, trams, lots of pedestrians and bikes, plus the odd 
construction zone with detours, and you have the makings of a stressful 
day indeed. If you’re arriving by car, it’s best to park on the 
outskirts and take a metro into the center of town.&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2 class="h2style">4. Get an Andante Card and travel on public transportation</h2>Porto has an efficient public transportation network with six metro 
lines that link districts across town. You can also take the metro out 
to the beach and get to, and from, the airport (violet line E).&nbsp; In 
addition, there are buses, trams and even one funicular. For 
convenience, purchase an Andante Card (€0.60) and load it with credit 
for use on the metro and buses.&nbsp;Trams have a special rate (€3.50/6 one-way/return) and tickets can be
 purchased on board. The Funicular dos Guindais, also charged separately
 (€3.50 one-way), runs from the riverfront near the base of the iconic <a href="https://www.lonelyplanet.com/portugal/the-north/porto/attractions/ponte-de-dom-luis-i/a/poi-sig/423673/360380" data-mce-href="https://www.lonelyplanet.com/portugal/the-north/porto/attractions/ponte-de-dom-luis-i/a/poi-sig/423673/360380">Luís I bridge</a> up to Rua Augusto Rosa near the Igreja de Santa Clara.&nbsp;<h2 class="h2style">5. Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit (on summer of course) </h2>Porto’s western neighborhoods border the Atlantic, with some wide 
sandy beaches easily reached by metro or bus. The water is chilly, but a
 welcome relief on the hottest of summer days when temperatures can 
reach upwards of 33C (93F).<h2 class="h2style">6. Fork into a francesinha&nbsp;</h2>The francesinha is to Porto what <a href="https://www.lonelyplanet.com/articles/how-to-make-poutine" data-mce-href="https://www.lonelyplanet.com/articles/how-to-make-poutine">poutine</a> is to Québec. Or a "upgraded" croque madame in France. It’s a much-loved if decidedly un-fancy dish made of thick bread topped with ham, linguiça
 (Portuguese sausage), steak and cheese, then topped with yet more 
cheese (this time melted) and a mildly spicy sauce (made of tomatoes and
 beer) with perhaps a fried egg thrown in for good measure.&nbsp;Try it in Porto when you have the chance as you’ll rarely find the francesinha outside of the city. And make sure you’re well fasted before partaking of this deliciously high-calorie meal. <a href="https://www.lonelyplanet.com/portugal/the-north/porto/restaurants/cafe-santiago/a/poi-eat/1319196/360380" data-mce-href="https://www.lonelyplanet.com/portugal/the-north/porto/restaurants/cafe-santiago/a/poi-eat/1319196/360380">Brasão</a> serves up one of the best.&nbsp;<h2 class="h2style">7. Try the tripas</h2>Calling someone a tripe eater (tripeiro) might seem like a 
fine prelude to a fistfight. But in Porto, locals have adopted the 
moniker as their own, and proudly call themselves tripeiros. Why, you might ask? Quite simply because of their love for tripa (tripe), in particular, the somewhat enigmatically named dish tripas à modo do Porto (meaning Porto-style tripe).Carnivores will delight in this stew-like delicacy made from veal 
tripe, white beans, sausage, carrots, paprika and various other spices.

Portuguese, however, can help you during your stay. If nothing else, 
locals appreciate the effort to speak their language, never mind the 
rudimentary accent. When entering a room, it’s polite to say "bom dia" (good day) or "boa tarde" (good afternoon) to those around you. "Muito obrigada" (many thanks) or "muito obrigado" (if you’re a man) will also earn you respect.
